History

OURHave Done

Sanyog, founded on April 4, 1996, emerged from the need to address a standstill in adoption activities in Odisha. At that time, the state lacked a functioning Voluntary Coordinating Agency (VCA) to facilitate legal adoptions, leaving many orphaned and abandoned children without hope. In response, a group of committed social activists came together to establish Sanyog, aiming to rehabilitate these children through legal adoption. After receiving recognition from the Women & Child Development Department of Odisha in May 1996, Sanyog was officially granted the VCA license by the Central Adoption Resource Agency (CARA) on September 16, 1997. Since then, Sanyog has played a pivotal role in coordinating and promoting adoption activities in the state, completing multiple terms as the state’s VCA.

Over the years, Sanyog has evolved into Odisha’s leading child rights organization, working across 12 districts to ensure the rights and protection of all children, especially those in need of care and protection. The organization has garnered support from international bodies like the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) and Adoptionscentrum of Sweden, further strengthening its mission. As it marks over two decades of service, Sanyog remains committed to making even greater contributions to child welfare and adoption in the years to come.
