What Sanyog do

At Sanyog, we are dedicated to ensuring the well-being and rights of children in Odisha through a comprehensive range of services and programs. Our primary focus is on facilitating the legal adoption process as a Voluntary Coordinating Agency (VCA), providing orphaned and abandoned children with the opportunity to find loving, permanent families. In addition to adoption services, we actively advocate for child rights, working across 12 districts to protect children from abuse, exploitation, and neglect. Our care and protection programs are tailored to meet the needs of vulnerable children, offering shelter, education, healthcare, and emotional support. We also engage in community outreach and education initiatives to raise awareness about child rights and the importance of adoption, empowering local communities to take an active role in safeguarding children. Through partnerships with international organizations like the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) and Adoptionscentrum of Sweden, we enhance our efforts and bring global best practices to our work. Furthermore, Sanyog is involved in research and policy development, aiming to influence positive changes in child protection legislation and practices to create a safer environment for all children in Odisha.

What Sanyog have done

We believed, ‘every child has a right to a family’, and there was no better a rehabilitation measure for parentless and homeless children than adoption. As such, promotion of in-country adoption always tops the priority of Sanyog and that is what it is entrusted to do as the ACA of the State. When it became the VCA of Orissa in 1997, adoption scenario in the State then was not very encouraging. With sincere efforts, commitment, coordination, networking, extensive awareness and publicity campaigns, and emergence of new adoption agencies, adoption in the State has been on a steady increase ever since. Extensive counseling to prospective adoptive parents, accompanying them to various adoption agencies, resorting to various awareness and publicity measures have contributed to the increase in number of adoptions from Orissa.
